michelle was born in ft.worth, texas and raised in the area.  a self taught artist, michelle moved to clearwater, florida in 1992.  now living in tarpon springs, michelle paints almost every day.... she says, "it's my passion, and i try to paint as often as i can.  i like to make the viewer's imagination wander with my subject matter.  i choose not to paint the obvious.  the impact of color and what unusual color choices can bring feeling and life to almost anything.
COLOR IS LIFE and i embrace it.  i like to paint in a variety of styles and experiment along the way, one of the reasons it stays exciting for me."  with each original painting michelle embraces humor and joy through her brilliant colorful paintings and has gained quite an extensive following from doing outdoor art shows and other events!  this is her website where you can view her work and find out what's going on in her world.  michelle hopes that you will enjoy what you see and she promises never to have any blah, blah, blah boring artspeak rhetoric on her website!  to her art is about the feeling that it brings to you, the collector.

some of michelle's early artistic influences were cartoonist chuck jones, dorothy wood (her grandmother) and sina coulsen (her high school art teacher.)  however, michelle is influenced by everyday things she sees and people (and dogs) that she meets.

michelle respects the works of  pop/contemporary artists: roy lichtenstein, andy warhol, james rosenquist and  wayne thiebaud.  she most appreciates the courage that these artists had to create and paint on their own terms and further develop what is said to be known as "art!"  it's not about the subject matter to michelle, but the feeling that comes over you when you view any artwork, that is what is  important.

her favorite modern master is salvador dali (not for his way kooked out surrealistic stuff but for his enormous master works, his intense colors and precise imagery.)

wait a minute is this artspeak rhetoric???
